Teaching in Social Work is a private attribution of the Social Worker, who must have a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, according to article V of the Law that regulates the profession (Law no. 8.662/93). However, can the absence of a specific training for teaching practice be a problem that interferes with the quality of the teaching-learning process of the students? The present article proposes a reflection on the limits, challenges and potentialities of teaching practice in Social Service, taking as a reference the experience of the Bachelor's Degree in Social Service of IFCE - Iguatu campus. This study adopted as methodological procedure the qualitative research and, as a technique, the bibliographic research related to the object of study, guided by the historical-dialectical method. It was found that, for teaching in Social Service, it is essential the conscious articulation of the theoretical-methodological, ethical-political and technical-operational dimensions, which lead to critical professional training and practice, in order to make the profession's ethical-political project viable, as well as pedagogical training focused on knowing how to teach, essential for the exercise of teaching.
