: the disability is a social construction and the perceptions, will generate conceptions that will influence in attitudes towards the person with disability. From that budget, it is necessary to work with the theme from the Child Education and one of the ways to do that work is using literature. As a result, practical activities of reading strategies were obtained, with the book Esta es Silvia and understanding the perceptions of 4-year-old children of a Municipal School of Early Childhood Education of a city in the interior of São Paulo on physical disability, before and after reading that book. To do this, we used as a methodological procedure: conversation wheels and designs made by children before and after reading strategies activities. It was verified that in addition to enabling reading strategies, the book in question made it possible to alter perceptions of children of 4 years on physical disability, bringing positive information on the subject.
