This article deals with the women 's magazine entitled "Alvorada: Revista da Mulher Presbiteriana Independente” and aims to identify, through the reading of the paratextual elements, the characteristics that shaped it as belonging to the group of women' s magazines. The analysis is limited to the first ten years of the journal's circulation, that is, between 1968 and 1978, since in this period of time it was under the command of the same chief editor, maintaining an editorial standard. In the end, it is possible to list the factors that characterized "Alvorada" as a female magazine: the colloquial tone of its editorial, the texts that dealt with domestic, family and food care; the wide textual diversity; literary suggestions, as well as the texts with a counseling character.
