The purpose of this article is to briefly expose possible convergences between the pedagogical model of Thomas Aquinas and Paulo Freire’s. Even with centuries separating these two thinkers, we can observe through their philosophical goals, in relation to teaching learning, their didactics approach and purposes of education. Tomás, with the advent of universities in the thirteenth century, presents the model of so-called disputed issues that values ??external knowledge and real dialogue with the various areas of knowledge in search of true reality; And in Paulo Freires’ approach we noticed the appreciation of the dialogue between the educator and the learner for meaningful and liberating learning. The authors both thinkers, leaders of their time and their historical context, address similar methodologies and concerns with education, and it gives the possibility of empowerment to change the reality of the world.
