Abstract

Partial results of research developed in the Graduate Program in Education of the Faculty of Philosophy and Sciences (FFC) - Marília campus, of the Universidade Estadual Paulista - UNESP, linked to the line "Philosophy and History of Education", at the master's degree. Aiming to contribute to the understanding of the process of consolidation of research in the History of Education in Brazil, without making a chronology, it focuses on presenting the main historical characteristics that stimulated and allowed research dedicated to the theme to gain space in national scientific circles. Through a historical approach, centered on documentary and bibliographic research, the preliminary analysis makes it possible to verify the process of constitution of the field of History of Education in Brazil, initially taken as a discipline and, after a long period, consolidating itself as a field of research linked to the development of the Brazilian university and Graduate Programs and, at the same time, strengthened by the various initiatives of entities and associations, research groups and Brazilian researchers that contributed to configure this field of teaching and research.
