Abstract

This work aims at analyzing Quota Act and its effects on the student profile in the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina. It takes as its ground Law 12.711 and focus on technical learning integrated to high school. For, a qualifying-descriptive research, by means of bibliographical review and statistical comparison of secondary data of applicants of 2012 and 2019 selective processes, was set forth. Changes in the profile of the students under consideration, with emphasis on the group within per capita income corresponding to 1,5 minimum wage, were pointed out. The conclusion reached is that, in assuring accessibility to lower classes, the Quota Act brought a substantial change in the profile of applicant-entrant students of technical learning integrated to high school.
