Landless women in times of the covid-19 pandemic

confronting violence in Agrarian Reform Settlements in the State of São Paulo

Abstract

The social vulnerabilities and violence faced by women, especially afro brazilian, poor and LGBT are multiple, but in rural areas, they can be accentuated by invisibility and lack of access to their rights. Violence against women and hunger have shown alarming numbers in Brazilian society, being intensified with Social Isolation, a sanitary measure adopted against Covid-19 in Brazil since March 2020. The objective of this scientific article is to present Combat Networks, Collectives and Actions that contribute to combating violence in the countryside and territories of the Agrarian Reform linked to the Landless Rural Workers Movement, addressing the Periferia Viva project and the Network for Combating Domestic Violence of the Social Movement of São Paulo, both developed in the context of Sars Cov-2 pandemic The research is bibliographical and qualitative analysis discusses domestic violence from the perspective of gender and hunger in the Brazilian agrarian field. It is possible to perceive a social impact of the actions proposed and developed by the Social Movement in relation to domestic violence against women and LGBT people in their organized territories and the need for its dissemination and replication. The State and governments need a greater look and dialogue with the Social Movements, seeking to develop more effective policies for women and LGBTS, especially in the countryside, forests and waters that are in Social Isolation even before the first cases of Covid -19 in Brazil.
