Abstract

Volume 11, number 3 of the Journal Diálogos e Perspectivas em Educação Especial (RDPEE) of the year 2024 consists of 11 articles, which configure the thematic dossier on accessibility and inclusion in the university, the result of the 4th National Congress on Inclusion in Higher and Professional Technological Education, held in Natal/RN, from April 2 to 5, 2024, promoted by the Secretariat for Inclusion and Accessibility of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (SIA/UFRN) with the support of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes) and a partnership with public higher education institutions, with the purpose of giving visibility to the works awarded in the 1st Edition of the Romeu Sassaki Award, as well as studies and research representing Higher Education Institutions from different Brazilian regions in the field of institutional policy and inclusive knowledge and practices developed in the context of Higher and Professional Technological Education. The Romeu Sassaki Award is a tribute that has become a permanent element of the National Congress for Inclusion in Higher and Professional Technological Education, in recognition of his role as a protagonist in the fight for the rights of people with disabilities in Brazilian society, whose work and dedication was recognized by UFRN, in December 2021, honoring him with the title of Doctor Honoris in recognition of more than 60 years dedicated to promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities.

  • Francisco Ricardo Lins Vieira de MELO, Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte - UFRN

    PhD (2006) and Master's (2003) in Education from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte - UFRN, Graduated in Physiotherapy from UFPB (1993). Full Professor at UFRN. Professor at the Department of Physiotherapy, the Postgraduate Program in Education and the Postgraduate Program in Special Education at UFRN. President of the Permanent Committee for Support to Students with Special Educational Needs - CAENE (2010 - 2019). Secretary of the Secretariat for Inclusion and Accessibility - SIA (Since 2019). Post-doctorate at the University of Algarve in Portugal (2015-2016) through the Senior Internship Abroad Program/CAPES. Develops and guides research in the area of ​​Education with an emphasis on Special/Inclusive Education. Member of the Advisory Committee on Special Education and Specialized Assistance in Exams and Assessments of Basic Education of INEP.
