A critique of the emancipatory ideological character of the solidarity economy policy implemented by the Brazilian Government (2002-2013)

Abstract

This article aimed to analyze the emancipatory ideological character of the Solidarity Economy policy adopted in Brazil between 2002 and 2013 in the light of the concept of social emancipation from a "Marxian" perspective. This study, which is qualitative, was based on the methodological contributions of Godoi, Bandeira-de-Mello e Silva (2006). Initially, classical articles dealing with the concept of emancipation were consulted, such as those by Marx, Engels and Gramsci. Then, it focused on contemporary articles on Solidarity Economy, such as those by Singer, Santos and Barbosa. It was possible to conclude that there is a significant gap between the emancipation proposals outlined by Marx and those that support Solidarity Economy in current standards. This conclusion reveals an ideological change in the movement, which has gone from being independent to allying itself with the State, thus contributing to overcoming problems generated by capitalism, such as unemployment and social inequality and, consequently, to the continuity of the capital system.
