Ethical Commitment
The Journal follows the ethical publishing standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), whose principles are described here. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, falsification, and data fabrication practices are not allowed. These scientific misconducts are defined, respectively, by the Brazilian Academy of Sciences as follows at this address:
- Plagiarism involving the appropriation of the ideas and work of others without proper credit;
- Self-plagiarism or republication of scientific results already published, as if they were new, without informing previous publication;
- Falsification or manipulation of data, procedures and results;
- Fabrication of results and records as if they were real;
In a subsidiary way, Revista Aurora follows the guidelines of the Universidade Estadual Paulista ˜"Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (UNESP) - Guide to good academic practices.
- Scielo Guide to good scientific practices (Access here)
- San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) (Access here)
All manuscripts submitted to the journal are examined using similarity/plagiarism detection programs. Aurora Journal uses the iThenticate tool from Turnitin in the process of similarity verification and prevention of academic and professional plagiarism.
If plagiarism, self-plagiarism (text recycling), or redundant publication is identified, the editors will take action following the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and may consider suspending the evaluation process or retracting a publication (according to the Errata and Retraction Policy). The responsible parties will be prohibited from submitting new manuscripts to the journal for the next five years.
The iThenticate tool is licensed by the São Paulo State University "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (UNESP) and is available to all journals hosted on the UNESP Periodicals Portal.
The Editorial Committee of the journal is committed to upholding the principles of impartiality, transparency, and confidentiality in evaluations, ensuring the protection of the rights of reviewers, authors, and institutions involved in the editorial process. Any complaints or suspicions of misconduct by authors, reviewers, or even the editorial team should be directed to the official journal email (aurora.marilia@unesp.br). These concerns will be reviewed by a special committee of the editorial board, following the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
