The problem is: how is it possible evaluate initially and summarily the theme of historical temporality in Robert W. Cox´s critical theory and its possible approximations with the questions of different temporalities linked to Trotsky’s and Gramsci’s categories of unequal and combined development and passive revolution in the specifically international theme? The hypothesis is: the dualistic methodological perspective as a translation of temporalities employed by Cox impoverishes the evaluative possibilities of history at the international level, distancing itself from the Gramscian perspective of hegemony and passive revolution, with which the Canadian author dialogues, and from the perspective of uneven and combined development, with which Cox seems to dialogue, at least in a hidden, partial and perhaps indirect way, without a more specific intellectual nexus. It employs a literature review and an approach focused methodologically on the possibilities of translation, in Gramscian terms, and in the Cox´s dualistic perspective.
