In this article, we sought to analyze and describe the perception of a person with profound bilateral hearing loss in the work environment and the need for adequate training and performance of the employee to assume the function in a large Brazilian company, located in a city ??of the state of Paraná. The qualitative research approach allowed the data collection through a semi-structured interview without the presence of an interpreter, since one of the authors acted as a bilingual professional and communicated with the deaf interviewee. It was verified that aspects such as lack of employee training and possibilities for professional growth, together with the difficulty in interaction between colleagues and supervisors, due to lack of knowledge of the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), interfere in the balance between personal and work-life. The transcription of Libras into the Portuguese language was made adapting this sign language to the Portuguese language structure. Although the insertion of people with disabilities (PcD) is not a constant, achievements have already been recorded, and it is perceived that there is still a long way to go for these people, who seek equal rights and opportunities in the society of which they are part of.
