Author Guidelines

To submit a work to RDPEE, it is necessary to register at https://revistas.marilia.unesp.br/index.php/dialogoseperspectivas/user/register. All authors must register on the Periodicals Portal.

For the proposal to be accepted, the first step is to verify the submission's compliance with all the items listed below. Authors and/or co-authors must exclude their name or any reference to it from the entire body of the text to be submitted, replacing it with “Author”.

The files for submission are in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF format.

The identification of authorship of the work was removed from the file and from the Properties option in Word, thus ensuring the confidentiality criterion of the Journal, if submitted for peer review (eg articles), according to the instructions available in Ensuring Blind Peer Review .

All authors and/or co-authors are registered in ORCID (https://orcid.org).

The author must access the system, click on the New submission link and fill in the necessary information in the five steps, namely:

Step 1. Start. Mandatory completion of the fields: Language of Submission; Section; Requirements for Manuscript Submission and Copyright Declaration. Comments for the editor are optional.

Step 2. Transfer of the manuscript: In this step, the manuscript in PDF must be sent first, the version that is intended for evaluation, without information that identifies the author, and with all the tables, graphs, tables and figures in the place where it must be published. Then, the FULL manuscript must be transferred/sent in “.doc” or “.docx” format: this mandatory version must contain all information about authorship and affiliation, in addition to graphics, tables, tables and figures in the proper positions in the text.

Also at this stage, graphics, charts, tables and figures must be sent in open and editable files, separated, in Word or Excel, and numbered with Arabic numerals.

Step 3. Enter metadata. Inclusion of article data such as title, subtitle, abstract, co-authors, source (funding agencies, if applicable), copyright, languages, keywords and references cited in the text. Co-authors must also be registered in the system.

Step 4. Confirmation. In this step, the author must click on “Finish Submission”.

Step 5. Next Steps. In this last step the submission is completed.

To monitor the submission status, the author must access the system → menu → access → login and password.

GUIDELINES FOR ARTICLE ACCESSIBILITY

In compliance with the guidelines contained in the Brazilian Inclusion Law (LBI), Law No. 13,146, of July 6, 2015, in accordance with the principles of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its Optional Protocol, incorporated as a Constitutional Amendment in Brazil, through Legislative Decree No. 186, of July 9, 2008, with due promulgation by Decree No. 6,949, of August 25, 2009, the Journal Diálogos e Perspectivas em Educação Especial requests that articles submitted to the journal meet the following recommendations:

  • Avoid writing sentences with more than 20 words;
  • Prioritize the use of sentences in direct order (In Portuguese, consider: subject + verb + object).
  • Prioritize the use of shorter paragraphs, in order to facilitate comprehension when reading.
  • Avoid using italic font formatting, as it is harder to read. Use it only in cases where there are terms written in foreign languages.
  • Incorporate hyperlinks (link with automatic underlining) in all terms that refer to what is being indicated by the author.
  • Avoid the expressions “click here”, “learn more” and “post” and use “access the website (name of the website)”, “learn more on the portal (name of the portal)”.
  • Use exclusively visual information. If it is essential for discussing the topic, use the accessibility feature available in Word and describe the image, table or picture.
  • Avoid using information based solely on color, size and/or formatting (bold, italic or underlined) to convey different information, as text reading software does not identify such differences. It is important to note that underlining should only be used for links.
  • Avoid tables and charts with more than five columns and ten rows. • It is not advisable to use merged, divided or blank rows or columns.
  • Tables and charts should be created in the text editor itself (Word, for example), in text format and not in image format.
  • Prioritize captions that do not contain symbols or abbreviations.
  • Ensure that graphs have sufficient contrast, not only for people with low vision, but also for printing in grayscale or black and white.
  • Choose colors that are accessible to people with color blindness. Avoid using the color red, especially when combined with the color green.
  • To check the contrast of your graphs, we recommend the Color Contrast Analyzer tool.
  • References should include the link to access it at the end. For example:

TEXT STRUCTURE

Titles and subtitles: cannot exceed 80 characters with spaces.

Abstract and keywords: should expose the objective, materials and methods, results and final considerations, when dealing with a research report. In the case of other types of text, variations will be accepted, except for bibliographic reviews, which must also follow the items described above.

Abstracts must contain a maximum of 250 words, be typed without paragraphs and without citations of authors and dates. Keywords must be indicated after the abstract (minimum of three and maximum of five words) and separated by a full stop. To select the words that best represent the research, use the website of the Brazilian Thesaurus of Education, available on the website of the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research – INEP, http://inep.gov.br/thesaurus-brasileiro -of-education.

Abstract and Keywords: the abstract in English, as well as the descriptors, must be presented immediately after the abstract in Portuguese, following the same rules mentioned above. In the body of the text, the indications according to the type of manuscript submitted must be considered and the formatting guidelines for the abstract must be followed, paying attention to the maximum number of 250 words.

Citations in the text: NBR 10.520 ABNT is recommended.

Direct citations in the text of up to three lines must be enclosed in double quotation marks. Single quotes are used to indicate a quote within a quote.

Examples:

  1. Barbour (1971, p. 35) describes: “The study of the morphology of terrains [...] active [...]”
  2. "Don't move, pretend you're dead." (CLARAC; BONNIN, 1985, p. 72).
  3. According to Sá (1995, p. 27): “[...] through the same 'art of conversation' that encompasses such an extensive and significant part of our daily existence [...]”

Direct quotes, in the text, with more than three lines, must be highlighted with a 4 cm indent from the left margin, with a letter smaller than that of the text used (size 11, single spacing is recommended) and without quotation marks.

Example:

Teleconferencing allows an individual to participate in a national or regional meeting without having to leave their place of origin. Common types of teleconferencing include the use of television, telephone, and computer. Through audio conferencing, using the local telephone company, an audio signal can be broadcast in a room of any size. (NICHOLS, 1993, p. 181).

Illustrations, equations/formulas, tables: NBR 14724 ABNT is recommended. All tables, graphs, charts and figures should preferably be sent in Excel, in separate files, numbered with Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3...), with titles (positioned above) standardized as to the format and terms used. Below these, the source of the data must be indicated (referred to the bibliographic references), with authorship and year, even if it was prepared by the authors themselves. Figures (illustrations, images, maps, photos, etc.) must have a resolution of at least 300 DPIs. In the PDF version, tables, graphs, charts and figures must be inserted in the place where they will be published.

Illustrations: figures, drawings, graphs, charts, maps, schemes, formulas, graphic models and photographs are considered. Captions must be inserted below the illustrations, numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals and centered. In the case of images that indicate individuals or groups of individuals, a copy of the documents containing their authorization to publish the material must be submitted to the Editorial Board. However, they will not be able to reveal the identity of individuals.

Table: they present information treated statistically and must follow the standards of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The title must be inserted at the top, centered, and the numbering is consecutive, in Arabic numerals. If it is necessary to specify the data source, it must be placed below the table and the text aligned to the left.

Footnotes or at the end of the text: should be avoided and, when this is not possible, they should be placed at the foot of the page, using the resource available in the text editor (Word); references to the footer must be made by numbers, between the top lines. Consecutive numbering of notes will be used within the text.

References: they must be organized in alphabetical order, aligned to the left, with single spacing and prepared in accordance with ABNT standards, NBR 6023:2018.

Literature Review

The Literature Review must be composed of research syntheses or meta-analyses, with a critical evaluation of previously published material. It is expected that the authors, when integrating and evaluating the data, explain possible gaps and advances in the area of Special Education and/or Education from an inclusive perspective. Although there is no pre-defined section structure for this type of contribution, authors should also pay attention to fundamental aspects of the method of this type of text, namely: search bases and criteria for carrying out this search; survey period and considered descriptors; how the material found was analyzed; and, finally, it is suggested that this material be presented in a results section, according to the current standards of qualified or peer-reviewed scientific Journals. It is also suggested the use of current tools that help in the elaboration of these searches, such as: Parsifal, Zotero and NVivo.

Make a new submission to the Literature Review section.

Experience Report

Description in the scientific molds of educational procedures and technologies, with a view to a better solution of educational situations or problems and/or better performance of the professional in the area of Special Education.
