Abstract
The Paris Commune was, simultaneously, the product of an international crisis (the struggle for European hegemony, which culminated in the Franco-Prussian war), a national crisis (the political deterioration of the Second Empire and the crisis of the Bonapartist regime) and, decisively, the socialist political and ideological development of the European proletariat in the preceding decades, which converged in the organization of the Workers' International (International Workers' Association, or AIT, founded in London in 1864 ). It is from this last aspect that we will analyze the decisive event of 1871, which had long-term repercussions for the entire politics of Europe, and even beyond.
