Abstract

This article analyzes the way in which the issue of the State is raised in the annals of the III Congresso Brasileiro de Assistentes Sociais, in 1979. In addition to the notable appropriation of Marxian thought by congressmen to think about the State, we also point out conceptions, raised in this event, that match with the expansion of the State, thought in the work of Antonio Gramsci.
