This article is an attempt to outline the main characteristics of research on a new area of studies, the so-called Artificial Intelligence (AI). Items 1 and 2 sketch the historical background of AI and its basic pressuppositions. Item 3 focus on the problem-solving theory developed by A. Newell and H. Simon. Item 4 is an attempt to show the philosophical and epistemological relevance of Artificial Intelligence.
