Call for articles for dossier: Social Thought in Brazil: Conservative Aesthetics, Social Movements, Approaches and Possibilities

Brazilian society has been a topic of deep discussion after the 2022 elections and January 8, 2023, with political polarization and identity disputes permeating the most different areas of the lives of all citizens.

The topics of the debate are broad and include the discussion of the political and social identity of different groups, with the weakening of traditional political groups and the strengthening of new groups and the action and definition of pressure groups and their intersections and contradictions. Furthermore, international politics occupies a new role defining and redefining national identities. Likewise, new Artificial Intelligence technologies combined with the speed of information propagation of social networks reinforce collective identities by distributing information, whether true or not.

In this sense, quantitative and qualitative research has sought to understand the Brazilian reality, as well as the influence of various pressure groups and new technologies on the social formation of Brazil, in addition to its economic implications. Questions such as: has the political field undergone a shift from the old ideologies of class struggle to an identity basis? What is the influence of certain pressure groups on public policies and social relations? What is the role of new artificial intelligence technologies in the national public debate? What is its impact on areas such as employment, legislation, art, etc.? Still, there are those who, using this data, seek to demonstrate possible paths to overcoming inequalities and consolidating a more inclusive democracy.

Seeking to discuss these and other issues, the new edition of Revista Aurora – Student Magazine of the Postgraduate Program in Social Sciences at the Universidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” (UNESP), Faculty of Philosophy and Sciences of Marília – invites all everyone who has texts to contribute to these debates should submit them for the organization of our next thematic dossier: Social Thought in Brazil: Conservative Aesthetics, Social Movements, Approaches and Possibilities.

We will also receive Articles in the Miscellaneous section, Essays, Reviews and interviews (continuous flow), as stated in the Publication Rules.

Deadline for submitting texts for the dossier: August 20, 2024.
