The present work aims to discuss the role of the pedagogue as an organic intellectual in professional education for an emancipated education from the perspective of a unitary school defined in Gramsci's terms. The research analyzes video recording of reports from pedagogues who work in professional education in three different institutions: S system, state network and IFES located in the state of Espírito Santo. Starting from the debate on the social function of professional education institutions, it reveals the profile and role of pedagogues as a mediator of integral human formation in view of Gramsci's concept of organic intellectual. Based on this source, it indicates the pedagogue's varied performances, his training and concludes about his mediating role in human formation and also signals the need to continue studies on the object in question.
