The article in question seeks to present some important categories of Gramsci in the discussion about the relationship between the mass party and the intellectuals, the development of the concept of the modern prince and its relationship, for example, with the idea of passive revolution. It then traces an overview of the development of the Workers' Party as the main popular party in Brazil, analyzing its evolution through the Gramscian prism. Finally, some critical suggestions are made regarding the progressive electoral logic that came to predominate in the PT and the weakening of the strategies of attachment to popular mass movements.
