Abstract

The text is divided into two parts. The first part is about the creation and development of the cyborg as a cultural and a technological entity related symbiotically to the human mind. Both speculative and scientific elements of these advances are emphasized. The second part is a critical reflection on the future that the technological and cyborg society can hold for the human being. In particular, the already visible reality of posthuman beings is recognized and then it is discussed the possibility and convenience of placing them, alongside humans, in an open non-dichotomical society where experts are closer to the needs of non-experts.
