Abstract

This article is an approach to the notion of the body in Spanish philosopher Jose Ortega y Gasset (1883-1955), especially with regard to its relation to his phenomenological inquiry into sociality. From the analysis of Ortega’s most representative texts on sociology and anthropology, it is shown that the body is not an isolated or sporadic element in his writing, but rather a mediating element that is most representative of his thought.
