Abstract

The author aims to clarify the historical particularity of Peru in the context of the world and Latin American economy, as well as the reasons for the socioeconomic inequalities that determine the current Peruvian political crisis.

Author Biography

Pedro Francke , PUCP

Former Minister of Economy of the government of Pedro Castillo. He holds a master's degree in economics and is a senior lecturer at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, where he has been teaching for more than two decades. He specializes in social and health policies. 

He was Executive Director of FONCODES, where he initiated the A Trabajar program. He was Executive Secretary of the International Cooperation Commission presided by Javier Pérez de Cuéllar, which after the transition to democracy obtained 1,400 million dollars for Peru. He headed the Interministerial Commission for Social Affairs that designed the first Strategy to Fight Poverty. In the health field, he has been President of ForoSalud, President of SISOL - Hospitales de la Solidaridad in Lima and General Manager of EsSalud.
