Since the 1970s, a set of economic, political and ideological transformations have occurred, which have contributed, on the one hand, to the growth of world wealth, and on the other hand, to the increase in environmental pressures and social inequality. In this context, this article seeks to understand how these changes, denominated neoliberalism, contributed to deepen environmental problems, as well as to make their effective solutions unfeasible. It is considered that thinking about the environmental issue means reflecting on the relationship between the social being and nature, in other words, it reflects social issues.
