Abstract

The theme of memory, like information, transcends the limits of a single field of study and has been addressed by multiple domains of knowledge, due to this characteristic it becomes possible to relate it to Information Literacy in several aspects. This study aims to verify, through a literature review, what has been produced in the field of Information Science about the relationship between memory and information literacy. The research, of an exploratory and bibliographic nature, employs a qualitative approach and uses the Scopus and Web of Science databases for the literature review. The research resulted in the identification of 18 (eighteen) articles that deal with the topic of information literacy and memory. To analyze the selected texts, they were categorized, creating the following categories: information literacy and human memory, information literacy and artificial memory, information literacy and social memory. In general, the analysis of the articles revealed that there is a significant gap when searching for articles with both themes. Most studies have focused on information literacy and human memory, addressing issues of memorization capacity as an aspect for assessing learning and a benefit to reduce cognitive load and stress at work, the impact of memory on information management and its relationship with Information Literacy.
