The objective of this article is to map and analyze the scientific production in critical knowledge and health, to understand how the scientific community presents the relationship between the themes and to suggest a research agenda. The research is characterized as exploratory and used the systematic review method. The data collection was carried out through research in the Ebsco, Emerald, Scopus and Web of Science databases. 39 articles were identified, using the strings "critical knowledge AND health". After analysing the titles and according to the original inclusion and exclusion criteria, 15 articles were selected for content analysis. The results showed that the theme was investigated in 2004, but that there were few scientific productions in the field, since only 15 studies were directly or indirectly associated with the management of critical knowledge in the health area. Through the literature review, six study themes were identified: importance of the study, strategic elements of health information, sources of knowledge, strategies, agents and barriers. These themes were unfolded into 21 themes, highlighting the state of the art in the discussion of the theme.
