In the scope of studies of information users, it is understood that the perspectives on informational behavior and informational practices are significant for research aimed at the LGBTQIA+ population. In this sense, the objective of this article is to describe the informational behavior and informational practices of Brazilian transvestites and transsexual women, considering their social, cultural and political aspects. The adopted methodology is constituted in a bibliographic survey that approaches the studies of users of the information and the contextual aspects of transvestites and transsexual women in national territory. The collected data are analyzed using a qualitative approach, establishing a brief review of the literature. The results demonstrate that the occurrence of information needs is developed collectively. Digital social networks are strong tools for searching and exchanging information. The use and sharing of information is aimed at disseminating information on transvestites and transsexuality to civil society. We conclude that the urgency of more studies aimed at this public is notorious, since the context in which dissident identities are located influences their processes related to the needs, search, access, appropriation, use and dissemination of information.
