Abstract

This article aims an analysis of the concept of hegemony in Gramsci from the contributions of different authors who generated influence on the Gramscian theorization with the problematization of the interpretation of Laclau and Mouffe (2015) on the end of conflicts for hegemony when consummated the unification of the historical bloc. For the analysis, the historical matrices, meanings and modifications in the meaning of the concept are resumed, taking as a starting point the Greek coinage of the term, its resumption in the circle of Russian social democracy and, then, the crucial contribution of Lenin, the interpretations of Trotski, Rosa Luxembourg and other authors who in one way or another enriched the concept until the in-depth interpretation of Gramsci. Having structured these elements, we propose a different reading from that undertaken by Laclau and Mouffe on the self-annullation of the concept at the moment of unification of the historical bloc.
