The epistemological and tactical particularities that distinguish Soviet orthodox Marxism from the various strands of Western Marxism have been the subject of countless debates, both among academics and within political and social movements. In contrast to this tendency that privileges differences, Zenovia Sochor presents in this article possible points of contact between such traditions, through the works of two of its main exponents: Antonio Gramsci, one of the most important thinkers of Western Marxism; and Aleksandr Bogdánov, an important leader of the Bolshevik faction in the early years of the RSDLP. Using Lenin's positions as a comparative reference, Sochor presents the ideas of Bogdánov and Gramsci about the necessary conditions for revolution from three aspects of the problem: (1) the role of intellectuals; (2) the organizations proposed for cultural-educational work; and at a broader level, (3) the relationship between cultural change and the transition to socialism.
