This article analyzes the maturity and practices of project management in scientific research groups in the field of Archiving, Library Science and Information Science, registered with CNPq. To determine the level of maturity, the level 2 questionnaire was applied in the Project Management Maturity Model (PMMM). Interviews were also carried out with group participants. It is concluded that there are empirical elements used for project management in these informational environments. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss the development of specific practices and tools. It is recommended that schedules be developed reflecting the dynamics, between flexibility and prediction, due to the nature of the projects. Failure to develop has an impact on not anticipating actions in the face of unexpected situations, making collective discussion of decisions difficult and overloading the leader in carrying out subsequent actions. Also include partners' demands in the schedule, since focusing only on the core activity can lead to delays in tasks of other natures. Establish data and information to form project monitoring reports, which will be used to structure group meetings. Finally, regularly record the learning that has occurred, in order to create a memory of its execution, as well as serve as a reference for future projects.
