Abstract

For an education that serves the demands of all students, it is necessary to think about means, through strategies and methodologies, which provide the success and learning of students. This research sought to apprehend, through the meanings, the educational process of a visually impaired student, from basic education to higher education. The methodological approach adopted is qualitative in nature, from a case study. The construction of empirical data was based on the use of semi-structured interviews, which was transcribed and later analyzed through the significance nuclei. The results of the study showed that the path taken by the student was not easier, having greater inclusion in Higher Education, but there are still many gaps to overcome and, with this, the learning process of the visually impaired student is limited and with many barriers, which pass through the physical structures of the institutions, lack of materials and negative attitudinals. These results suggest that educational inclusion depends greatly on the adoption of positive attitudes and the participation of the whole community, in order to reduce barriers in learning and to favor the process of training people with disabilities.
