History

Kínesis – Journal of Studies of Post-Graduate Students in Philosophy was launched in March 2009 in the electronic scientific Journal modality as a result of the joint initiative of students of the Post-Graduate Program in Philosophy at Unesp in Marília-SP.

Its initial project was designed due to the interest in presenting research by Post-Graduate Philosophy students in Brazil. The students who conceived the Journal observed that there was little space for publishing research developed in the Graduate Programs in Philosophy in Brazil, as the Journals then existing only published works by doctors.

About the name of the Journal, “Kínesis” in Greek means movement, change, agitation of the soul; a discussion, a clash of theories and theorists, provokes the movement of ideas, a “kinesis”. This movement underlines the philosophical activity of debate and discussion that a Journal could generate, thus combating the stagnation of ideas that academic isolation sometimes causes us, especially at the graduate level. Still, it marks the change, the transitoriness and the transformation that intellectual maturity causes in postgraduate students during their research period and in their publishing experiences.

Thus, supported by this meaning, Kínesis' mission is to publish and disseminate research by graduate and postgraduate students based on a careful evaluation process, provoking movement and discussion of ideas among graduate students in philosophy in Brazil.

Since then, the Journal has maintained its biannual periodicity, becoming one of the main Journals focused on publishing research by graduate students in the area of Philosophy in Brazil.
