QUAL É A FUNÇÃO EPISTÊMICA DA ARGUMENTAÇÃO? A ABORDAGEM EPISTEMOLÓGICA

Resumo

O objetivo deste trabalho é mostrar como o empreendimento denominado de Abordagem Epistemológica a Argumentação, procura responder à questão qual é a função epistêmica da argumentação? De modo a cumprir este objetivo, apresentaremos uma investigação, baseada em revisão bibliográfica, dos fundamentos filosóficos os quais se assentam e constituem uma teoria epistemológica do argumento. Começamos por introduzir a uma discussão da área e a uma discussão da problemática, sugerindo em que sentido pode ser entendida (seção 1). Na seção 2, fazemos alguns apontamentos sobre o que é, e também sobre como deve ser entendida, em geral, uma abordagem epistemológica; apresentamos um esboço de alguns tipos especiais de teorias epistemológicas desenvolvidas e de alguns tipos de critérios gerais pelos quais filósofos pensam ser (como deve funcionar) a boa argumentação, de um ponto de vista epistemológico. Discutimos algumas das razões pelas quais os defensores desta abordagem pensam que o seu tratamento da problemática seria melhor do que de outras alternativas, e como procuram defender uma AE: de um ponto de vista filosófico e empírico. Isso para dar uma ideia de que tem sido avançada tanto por filósofos quanto por parte de alguns psicólogos cognitivos, cujos os resultados de suas pesquisas têm auxiliado na substanciação deste empreendimento. No final deste trabalho, apresentamos algumas razões sobre que tipo de avanço este trabalho poderia ter realizado para a discussão sobre epistemologia da argumentação.
