The study is characterized in terms of its purposes as a descriptive research and in terms of means such as bibliographical and field, using a literature review and the application of a questionnaire with those responsible for the data repositories of the institutions that made up the sample of this research. From the data obtained, it was possible to verify the existence of institutional policies for open access to research data, to identify the data management support services being provided by the university libraries and to presents the main challenges that impact the provision of these services. It is concluded that efforts are being undertaken by institutions to achieve a more open and collaborative science, in which access to data is facilitated and enables its reuse to obtain better scientific and technological progress.
