This Article presents the proposal for a virtual reference service called "Professional Guidance Service". This service was designed for public libraries with the aim of offering professional training and guidance to the user community. The main motivation for the proposal stems from the increase the number of unemployed in Brazil, and the objectives set out in the IFLA 2030 agenda, with emphasis on the need for the library to develop innovations and services with a view to eradicating poverty and accessing knowledge. The methodology consists of an exploratory case study with a qualitative approach empirically, a functional prototype was developed using a free software platform as a way to demonstrate the applicability of the proposal. It was concluded by its feasibility, since to be operationalized, the project can count on free technological resources available at internet, and with the strength of volunteering.
