About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Brazilian Journal of Information Science - BRAJIS is a open access journal that publishes articles resulting from research related to the broad field of Information Science and related areas, such as Librarianship, Archival Science, Museology and the like.

BRAJIS publishes articles resulting from theoretical or empirical research, as well as translation of classical or fundamental texts related to the broad field of Information Science. Thus, all articles should highlight to what extent their theme is current and relevant to the theoretical-methodological universe of Information Science, considering the specialized literature in the area, including classic texts and also texts published in the last five years.
Priority will be given to articles that bring a broader theoretical and / or methodological contribution to the field of Library and Information Science, on an international level, publishing only in special situations and of undeniable merit, very particularized studies, whether in geographical scope ( such as those relating to an institution, city, etc.) or in the methodological dimension (such as case studies, for example).

We cannot publish papers with poor writing, misspellings, and/or grammar mistakes.

To submit an article to BRAJIS it is necessary that the text be original, that is, the text may not have been submitted to another form of publication.

At least one of the authors must have PHD degree.

Target: scientific community, academics and professional working in Library and Information Science field and its sub-areas.

 Peer Review Process
All manuscripts must be submitted through the system. Editors cannot receive manuscripts by email or submit manuscripts on behalf of the authors.

Before sending submissions to reviewers, editors will assess the manuscript based on following aspects:

a) omission of the author's data in the body of the text (will be included only after approval to ensure blind evaluation),

b) adaptation to the journal template;

c) spelling and grammar correction;

d) inclusion of metadata in 2 languages, English being obligatorily one of them.

e) adequacy of the scope and focus of the journal;

f) originality using the Turnitin similarity verification tool;

g) presentation of objective (s) and methodology clearly;

If the submission does not meet these criteria it will be rejected before the merit evaluation of the content.

Manuscripts are peer reviewed in a "Double Blind Review" process. The list of reviewers is available on the Editorial Board page.
At least two reviewers must accept the paper to be considered for publication. The rejection rate for submissions in the last year was 67%.

Reviewers are suposed to consider the following guidelines:

1. Contribution of the text to the area

2. Topicality of the theoretical foundation;

3. Description of the methodology used in the research;

4. Depth of the arguments;

5. Focus on the research question;

6. Quality of the text (grammar correction, clarity, logic and coherence);

Manuscripts can be returned to the authors for in case the reviewers suggest revisions.
The author will be notified when a paper is received and, also, when is accepted or rejected for publication.
Submitting and having accepted a paper in BRAJIS means that the authors give full rights to the journal for publication. The moral rights (attribution, etc.) and their responsibilities remain of the author though.
