Registration and Access
Registration on the system and subsequent access using a login and password are required to submit items and track the editorial process progress. [Log in] to an existing account or [Register] a new account.

Author Guidelines

1) Submit original and unpublished manuscripts via the website: If you are already registered, click on [access].

If not, register first by clicking here: [register].

2) REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

a) Manuscript without author identification, up to 20 pages, and reviews up to 4 pages (save in Word 97-2003.doc format).

b) Cover page with full name, email, ORCID, and institutional affiliation of all authors (save in Word.doc format).

 

3) MANUSCRIPT FORMAT

a) Submission: the manuscript must be saved/submitted as a Word.doc only.

Note: Do not use PDF.

b) Format: Use A4 paper with 3 cm top and left margins, and 2 cm bottom and right margins; 1.5 line spacing for the main text, and single line spacing for the abstract and references; Use Times New Roman font, size 12; Justify the text with 2 cm paragraphs.

c) The first page of the article should contain: title (in both Portuguese and English); short title (in Portuguese); abstract and keywords (in both Portuguese and English). *The English translation is solely the responsibility of the authors. Do not use online translators.

d) The abstract should detail the objective, methodology, results, and conclusions for research reports. It should contain a maximum of 250 words, contain no paragraphs, and avoid author citations and dates. The English abstract should be presented right after the Portuguese version.

e) Keywords: should be assigned after the abstract (minimum of three and maximum of five words). "Adapted Motor Activity" is a mandatory keyword.

f) The text should be organized as follows: Introduction, Method, Results and Discussions, Conclusions, and References (research reports should not exceed 20 pages). All sections should be numbered without periods, e.g., 1 Introduction, 2 Objective, 3 Method. Subsections should be numbered with periods, e.g., 3.1 Participants, 3.2 Data Collection Procedure.

g) Use bold only for titles or subtitles. To emphasize phrases or words, use italics.

h) Financial support and acknowledgments should be mentioned on the cover page.

i) Illustrations: Regardless of their type - drawings, diagrams, flowcharts, photos, graphs, maps, organograms, layouts, frames, portraits, and others - should be included within the text. Do not use illustrations that exceed the top and left margins of 3 cm and the bottom and right margins of 2 cm, and do not use landscape format.

Illustrations: Regardless of their type, identification should appear below, preceded by the designative word, followed by its order number in the text in Arabic numerals, a hyphen, and a brief, clear title. E.g., Table 1 – Title.

Photos: copyright from the photographer and the consent form from the photographed subject should be sent.

Description of figures: as a way to improve the magazine's accessibility, we are requesting that manuscripts containing photos, graphs, illustrations, organization charts, flowcharts be described following the concepts of description already established in the literature and already in use on Sobama's social networks. E.g.: see articles:

j) Figures and Tables: if created by the authors, the following should be indicated beneath the respective figure or table:

k) Citations referring to Brasil: ensure a thorough review of the text to insert (Brasil, year) for all citations of Resolutions, Laws, Decrees, Ordinances, from CENSO, INEP, IBGE, in line with the Reference section, which is BRASIL.

 

4) STANDARDS FOR CITATIONS AND REFERENCES The SOBAMA Journal adopts ABNT standards for formatting, citations (NRB 10520 of 2023), and references.

4.1 CITATIONS

a) Direct citations within the text, exceeding three lines, should be indented 4 cm from the left margin, in a font size smaller than the main text, and without quotation marks.

b) Citations from multiple documents by the same author, published in the same year, are differentiated by adding lowercase letters in alphabetical order after the date, with no spacing, as per the reference list. E.g., (Reeside, 1927b).

c) For direct citations, indicate the consulted page(s). E.g., (Mumford, 1949, p. 513).

d) Authors inside parentheses are separated by a semicolon. g., (Coelho; Barroco; Sierra, 2011).

e) Do not use "and" or "&" for authors inside parentheses.

f) Cited authors inside parentheses: capitalize only the first letter. E.g., (Bakhtin, 2008).

g) For indirect citations from multiple documents by the same author, published in different years and mentioned simultaneously, separate the dates by commas. g., (Kreppner, 1992, 2000, 2003).

h) Use apud as per: Silva (1983 apud Abreu, 1999, p. 3); (Vianna, 1986, p. 172 apud Segato, 1995, p. 214-215).

i) Use et al. for more than three authors: (Silva et al., 2000). Note: et al. is italicized.

j) For direct citations, use quotation marks and indicate the page. E.g., (Souza, 2001, p.13).

4.2 REFERENCES

a) References are aligned to the left margin, in single spacing, and separated by double spaces.

b) Author names should be cited with the surname capitalized and the first name abbreviated to its initial. E.g., if the name is Paulo Silva, the reference should be SILVA, P.

c) Use italics to emphasize the title of the references (do not use bold or underline).

d) Only for Brasília indicate the DF initials.
