Journal History

Revista Novos Rumos has been a political and cultural expression of Instituto Astrojildo Pereira since the beginning of 1986, when it began to circulate. The Journal (like the IAP) went through different phases, following the flow of political and cultural time, being part, in its detail, of the contradiction in process in our time. It has always maintained the objective of following up, scrutinizing and criticizing the foundations of the present time, but from a cultural field and from a well-defined theoretical and methodological point of view, which is the one found in the work of Karl Marx and in the project of human emancipation. its clear origin and reference. A quick consultation of the published editions indicates how the Journal has been dedicated to presenting quality theoretical texts, texts that enrich the knowledge of the history of Marxism and the labor and revolutionary movement, texts that clarify the need to affirm work as the foundation of being. of man, in addition to articles criticizing current imperialism, cultural criticism and others. The main merit of the quality that the Journal has shown in the last decade belongs to the entire IAP board and the editorial board, but mainly and without a doubt, to the editor Antonio Roberto Bertelli, who, in another role, will continue to collaborate with the Journal.

The Astrojildo Pereira Institute, in turn, in addition to the Revista Novos Rumos, especially after 1992, has worked hard to recover and preserve the historical memory of the labor movement and the left. This effort resulted in a fruitful association with CEDEM - Center for Documentation and Memory of UNESP, which today is the depository of the Historical Archive of the Brazilian Workers Movement of the IAP, an important source of research on this topic.

After more than two decades of circulation, Revista Novos Rumos enters a new phase, the result of the verification of the convergence of actions of the Astrojildo Pereira Institute, of the Research Group “Culture and Politics of the World of Work” and of some lines of research focused on on the essential theme of the work, which are present at UNESP. Thus, from this issue that reopens its circulation, Revista Novos Rumos becomes, as always, the expression of the IAP, but now also of the GP Culture and Politics of the World of Work and of an existing line of research at the Faculty of Philosophy and Sciences. , dedicated to studies on The determinations of work: sociability, politics and culture, from the Graduate Program in Social Sciences. The result of this partnership between UNESP-FFC and IAP, among other changes, resulted in a wide change in the editorial and editorial boards of the publication, which assumes an even more highly qualified intellectual and cultural profile, with a national (and international) dimension. An aspect present since the origins of the publication, Novos Rumos' international insertion is part of a requirement that its editors have always considered fundamental for the broad theoretical, historical and cultural debate, which has brought to its page’s contributions from cutting-edge contemporary authors, in addition to the indispensable presence of classic authors of the social and political sciences.
