In 1946 the UN was responsible for promoting international human rights issues. In order to facilitate the work of the organization, the Commission on Human Rights was created, which was specifically charged with developing international human rights standards and monitoring compliance with these standards among all member states of the organization.
This research is limited to the analysis of the performance of the member states of the European Union as revised countries in the mechanism of the UN Universal Periodic Review. To do so, the work intends, in an exploratory way, to analyze the functioning and the innovations of the SPS mechanism. The aim of the research is to analyze how the Member States of the European Union performed in the process of negotiating the SPS mechanism, taking stock of the European Union's performance in the first two cycles of the review mechanism.
