Abstract

The research presents the different situations that were made visible during the Covid-19 pandemic in the Paraguay an labor market regarding the loss of jobs, with emphasis on work cooperatives as an alternative for generating employment. The general objective was to analyze the contribution of work cooperatives as an employment strategy in the face of Covid-19. The research modality was bibliographic-documentary, with a quantitative approach. To estimate the generation of employment, based on the proposal of work cooperatives, the economically inactive population, the unemployed population, the population dedicated to domestic service, the family structure and the minimum membership of members were taken into account. in work cooperatives. The results propose three scenarios of employability with the creation of work cooperatives in the care of infants and the elderly. One of the conclusions raises the potential of the care sector, formalizing a work sector to generate work cooperatives as a work alternative to be developed in different sectors of the economy. The multisectoral work of the cooperative sector and the Ministry of Employment, Labor and Social Security is suggested mainly, to make visible the contribution of the entities of the social economy.
