A OPOSIÇÃO DE KARL JASPERS AO MISTICISMO COMO “FUGA DO MUNDO”: A PERSPECTIVA DO MISTICISMO CRISTÃ

Resumo

A filosofia existencial de Karl Jaspers (1883–1969) funda-se na necessidade de um exame crítico da existência concreta do ser humano que se encaminha para a transcendência. O filósofo busca ter consciência de si mesmo dentro de um mundo onde ele toma as suas direções. Essa busca tem seu início cognitivo na situação em que o buscador se encontra, que nunca deve ser ignorada e a partir da qual ele se põe o questionamento sobre o Ser. O conhecimento do Ser fornece ao filósofo um conteúdo ético de edificação pessoal. O homem filosofa com o fim de alcançar uma existência mais autêntica para si mesmo. Jaspers vê o misticismo religioso como uma comunicação vertical na qual o homem se absorve e se perde no Supremo Vós. Não haveria, então, harmonia entre a qualidade humana da liberdade e a imediaticidade mística. No entanto, o misticismo pode ser compreendido de uma perspectiva diferente, como ensina a tradição católica clássica, que considera o ser humano concreto que busca realizar o seu potencial natural de aperfeiçoar-se e elevar-se espiritualmente. Aperfeiçoamento e elevação que implicam uma relação mais justa com o próximo e uma atitude mais responsável para com a criação divina. Por meio de exemplos históricos e teológicos, este artigo mostra que o místico cristão é capaz de trazer à consciência problemas próprios deste mundo e fazer com que o praticante a eles se dedique, de maneiras talvez impensáveis caso se restringisse às possibilidades meramente humanas de consciência e ação.
